Old Pulteney is an iconic Highland distillery located in the rugged fishing town of Wick, famously known as the Maritime Malt due to the profound influence of the North Sea on its character.
History
The distillery was founded in 1826 by James Henderson at the height of Wick’s herring boom, and for decades it was accessible only by sea, with barley coming in and whisky going out on the same boats that carried the local catch.

The Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is the definitive expression of the distillery, matured in air-dried ex-bourbon casks to perfectly marry citrus sweetness with the hallmark brine of the Caithness coast.
Tasting Notes
The nose is medium to high in intensity with a briny hint of sea air and sweet floral notes, while the palate is smooth and firm-bodied with flavors of honey, cream, and zest that lead into a long, faintly salty finish.
